Katie, it all sounds good. Most dogs tolerate dairy ok but just keep an eye because some do not. Mine really enjoy the cottage cheese and yogurt as well. Just be careful with the aspirin, will double check the dosage you mentioned in you other comment and also check recommendations of the other stuff for you and post tomorrow. The massage is great and if you can ever get to do some hydrotherapy, that is wonderful for arthritis too.

Thanks for your reply. I will add the cottage cheese and eggs. I remembered your mention of Omega-3, which I take in softgel myself, so I have been giving it to Corkie along with the aspirin, glucosamine sulfate, liquid yucca for her arthritis as I have taken her of the Rimadyl. What do you think of this combination and what would you do? I also have been giving her massages. Thanks, Katie.

Teri, there will be more coming on all the wonderful stuff they put in pet foods.

Katiecoo, it really depends on what you are feeding whether their diet is deficient in anything. Aside from the diet I feed mine, combination raw and homecooked. Mostly all meat and eggs with some cottage cheese & yogurt, the only supplement I really give is an omega-3 fatty acid, either organic flaxseed oil or cold water salmon oil.

Thanks for reading! I'll keep it coming :)

Great article. It's really ironic as I have been really broke lately so started from scratch making meals for my five wonderful doggies. (all shelter rescues). And it is the first time in years that my Siberian Desi just snarfs her food. Thanks to your great article I feel really good now about continuing in the direction I am going with their meals. And they just love hanging out in the kitchen watching as mom fills the big ingredient bowl and taking the time to make their meals. It's working great for all of us. I feel more connected to them than ever, and just need to get some doggie vitamins so that all the bases are covered. Any suggestions as to what I really should be giving them vitamin wise? If I can avoid any unnecessary additions I will as I know they are benefiting from this new diet.
Thanks, Katiecoo.
